Ellen DeGeneres Replacing Paula On Idol

One of the reason I love watching American Idol is because of the "interaction" between the judges, especially Paula and Simon. Therefore, it was a disappointment to me that Paula has left the show.
Ellen DeGeneres, who will be replacing Paula has stressed in an interview with Ryan Seacrest that she will work hard to keep Simon Cowell in check. I hope her sense of humour will do the trick!

Farewell Anoop and Lil Rounds

It was a very much expected elimination. While I heart Anoop, he has been in the bottom three for the last couple of weeks. As for Lil Rounds, she's lucky she got this far.

Susan Boyle Cry Me A River Video

Like everyone else who watched 47 year old Susan Boyle's performance on Britain's Got Talent, I was totally knocked off my socks! Her rendition of Les Miserables' I Dreamed A Dream received a standing ovation from the audience as well as the judges.

What makes Susan Boyle an instant overnight success was the fact that she was not the typical "package" that reality TV shows like "American Idol" looks for. In fact, the world have labelled her as an "ugly" woman with an impeccable voice. When I watched the video, I was actually horrified that the audience as well as judge Simon Cowell snickered and rolled their eyes at her. But what a surprise it was to all those who were quick to judge!

This is definitely a wake up call for us all! Susan Boyle represented those who were overlooked, missed their calling, had talent that never got appreciated, had a life without opportunities - a true inspiration to all of us.

I could not embed her performance of "I Dreamed A Dream" but I hope you'll enjoy her rendition of "Cry Me A River" just as much.

American Idol Winner Prediction

Honestly, if you still have no clue who will mostly likely win this Season's AI, you are definitely no AI fan. Based on the judges' comments and the performance of the contestants so far, I would say Adam Lambert is by far the best among them.

I can't say I'm a HUGE fan of Lambert as I would prefer Danny or Anoop to win....probably....but having said that, Lambert is UNIQUE - has a great vocal, is already looking like the "package" deal and has been performing conistently well. He has never been in the bottom 3 as yet and I'll bet you my last dime, if he gets voted out, the judges will be using their save on him. So, that's my prediction. A couple more weeks and let's see whether I'm right!

Smokey Robinson Mentor on AI

This is NOT a recap - But I just had to open my mouth about AI. Did you catch Smokey Robinson on AI last night? I'd say he is a great legend but a rather diplomatic mentor. They call that being professional *Ugh*.

If you had watched the horrendous performance of Miss-what's-her-name-with-right-armed-tatooed, you'll know what I mean. I want her out - desperately. I've had enough of her cutesy wannabe attitude. America, please don't vote for her.

After last nite's performance, my favourites are Danny, Anoop, Adam and Alyson. I hope they stay on.

Alexis Grace Out Of American Idol 8

It was certainly a surprise to me that Alexis Grace got the least vote and even more shocking was the fact that the judges decided not to let her remain on. Well, I hope American Idol 8 has opened doors for her singing career because she is certainly one heck of a singer.

All the best to you Alexis Grace!

Ralph Macchio Returns To Ugly Betty

Remember Ralph Macchio, the star of Karate Kid? Well, can you believe he is 47 already???? Ok, ok I'm digressing.....

For those who follows Ugly Betty, Macchio's two episode appearance on the show has turned into...something more permanent. He will be brought back to romance Hilda (Ana Ortiz), Betty's sister.

Macchio is more than happy with the "Ugly Betty" role because it shot locally and made it possible for him to work close to his Long Island home, where he lives with his wife and two teenage children.

Lil Kim Watched Dancing With The Stars While In Prison

Rapper Lil Kim has been a huge fan of Dancing With The Stars since 2005 when she was jailed for a year and a day for perjury in relation to a New York shooting in 2001. While incarcerated in Philadelphia, she was encouraged by all the inmates to enter the dance competition.

So, the determined entertainer not only got on the show, she also landed last year's Dancing With The Stars champion, Derek Hough, as her professional partner. She admitted, "I was hoping and praying that I got Derek for my partner." Derek was impressed by Lil Kim, saying that "I’m happy to say that she has surpassed my expectations so far and think she will surprise a lot of people".

The new season of "Dancing with the Stars" which premiered yesterday, March 9 opened with Lil’ Kim dedicating her first dance, Cha Cha to all her girls in prison.

American Idol Top 12

As you can see, I've refrained from posting about AI week after week though I totally heart the show. Anyway, I'm glad I reserved my opinion as so far, 6 out of the 9 selected are my favourites. I can't say the same for the wildcards pick though, especially Tatiana and I have the worst kind of feeling that she'll probably get in. Ack! I'm rooting for Anoop Desai.

Here's my favourite 6 who got into the Top 12 (Picture courtesy of http://www.americanidol.com/) :

I know I'm a little late but I won't be able to forgive myself if I don't post about this. Here's a look at the beautiful celebrities at their best on the red carpet of the recent 51st Grammy Awards which was held Los Angeles on Feb. 8, 2009. Can you spot who is who?

American Idol Season 8 The Unbelievable Update

I find it hard to believe that poor Leneshe is cut from this round while drama queen Tatiana or Mr.Joker above got through the next round. One or more of the judges must have lost their screws somewhere. Sheesh! Truly disappointing....

On a separate note, I also discovered some fascinating news - apparently each season, Paula Abdul doesn't let any American Idol contestant, winner or loser, leave empty-handed. She designs and distributes jewelry for the aspiring singers as a keepsake of their experience. Awwww....isn't that sweet?

Neil Patrick Harris Hosts Saturday Night Live

Remember Doogie Howser MD? As a kid, I used to watch Neil Patrick Harris play Doogie but I would not say he was an unforgettable actor. In fact, I watched the show because there was nothing better on during that time slot :D

Anyway, some have labelled Neil as a "legendary joker". He will be making his debut on the late-night sketch series Saturday Night Live this Saturday, Jan. 10, with 19 year old singer, Taylor Swift. If you're a fan, why not catch him on SNL and let me know what you think.

Beyonce Knowles' If I Were A Boy

I was never a fan of Beyonce but her latest hit "If I Were A Boy" has certainly blew me away. Beyonce filmed the video for the song, in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood dressed up as a NYPD officer.

Just to share with you all, here is her video as well as the lyrics to the song:

If I were a boy
Even just for a day
I’d roll outta bed in the morning
And throw on what I wanted then go
Drink beer with the guys
And chase after girls
I’d kick it with who I wated
And I’d never get confronted for it.
Cause they’d stick up for me.

[CHORUS]
If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I’d be a better man.
I’d listen to her
Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
Cause he’s taken you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed
If I were a boy
I could turn off my phone
Tell evveryone it’s broken
So they’d think that I was sleepin’ alone
I’d put myself first
And make the rules as I go
Cause I know that she’d be faithful
Waitin’ for me to come home (to come home)

[CHORUS]
It’s a little too late for you to come back
Say its just a mistake
Think I’d forgive you like that
If you thought I would wait for you
You thought wrong

[CHORUS]
But you’re just a boy
You don’t understand
Yeah you don’t understand
How it feels to love a girl someday
You wish you were a better man
You don’t listen to her
You don’t care how it hurts
Until you lose the one you wanted
Cause you’ve taken her for granted
And everything you have got destroyed
But you’re just a boy

I'm Celebrating Xmas With Faith Hill

Oh boy, am I excited!!!! I get to celebrate this Christmas with Faith Hill....well, not exactly PHYSICALLY with her but close ;) I'm gonna get myself her first holiday album called "Joy To The World" which features her current single "A Baby Changes Everything" together with other classic Christmas songs such as "Little Drummer Boy", "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town", "O Holy Night" and more.

I can't wait to get the album as I have been a long time fan of Faith Hill. I first fell in love with her when I watched her perform "Breathe" and back then, I did not even know who Faith Hill was. After watching that performance, I thought she was the most talented and gorgeous diva in the entertainment world! LOL. Ahhh....Imagine spending the days leading up to Christmas (or even after) listening to my favourite artist's soulful and raspy voice crooning my all time favourite Christmas classics...

Meantime, if you are a fan of Faith Hill, let me share with you where you can watch this amazing country singer perform. Just head over to SoundCheck.

Movie Watch : WALL-E

Wall-E is written and directed by Academy Award winning writer-director Andrew Stanton. The main character in this animated movie is WALL-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth) who spends his days tidying and compacting rubbish left by man and at times collecting small trinkets which interest him. Wall-E's life changes when he discovered a search robot called EVE Extra-terrestrial Vegetation Evaluator)( and fell in love with her. Awwww.....and together, both robots fought (sort of) to save the Human Race.

Verdict : This was the first movie that my kids watched in a cinema but I felt that it was not the best pick. Finding Nemo or Meet The Robinsons would have been my better choice. Having said that, it is impossible for anyone to not love Wall-E's sheer charm. The morale of the story was there but the message on eco-warning may take some explanation for the younger children to understand. Overall, I'd give it a 6.5 over 10.

Chinese Gymnasts Underaged?

First it was the lip sync and the pre-recorded opening ceremony. Now, China is facing more controversy when their team of women gymnasts are being accused of being underaged.

Last month, The New York Times reported that according to online records, two of the gymnasts from China's team, He Kexin and Jiang Yuyuan are only 14. However, China was quick to dispute this by providing copies of passports indicating that both athletes in question are 16, the minimum age for Olympic eligibility since 1997.

Hell's Kitchen Winner 2008

Do any of you even watch Hell's Kitchen? Do you do you do you? Well, I do (despite the endless F words) and the winner for Season Four is Christina Machamer, a culinary student from Missouri. The favourite to win the title was rival Louis Petrozza, a catering chef from North Carolina. Woot! Another woman beats the odds to become executive chef at Hell's Kitchen with a whooping salary of 250k per year.
