Mariah Carey Is The No.1 Diva

Who does not know Mimi aka Mariah Carey? Since my younger days back in the 90's, she has been my absolute No.1 favourite American pop diva. I can still remember her 1990 debut album, Mariah Carey, which reached number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart . Back then, who could forget songs like "Love Takes Time" and "Vision of Love"? Their lyrics are still etched clearly in my memory. The very album won her Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

Then, following her marriage to Tommy Mottola in 1993, a series of hit records established her position as Columbia's highest-selling act. She was also voted the most successful artist of the 1990s in the United States.

Mariah's latest album, E=MC² was released early this month and two weeks before that, her song "Touch My Body" became Carey's eighteenth number-one single on the Hot 100. Amazingly, she has even outshine Elvis Presley for the most number-one singles among all artists in the rock era. Mariah is now second only to The Beatles who have twenty number-one singles. An awesome feat for Mimi which proves that she absolutely deserves the DIVA title.
