Behind That Strong Facade

There was nothing special about her that would warrant me giving her a second glance. She was an average built lady, slightly over 5 feet but it was pretty obvious that she was immaculately groomed. She had a pair of sunglasses perched on top of her head and her nails were well manicured. As far as beauty is concerned, I'd give her an average rating.

So, why am I writing about her? Well, while waiting in the departure hall for my flight back, she was sitting behind me and had a whole row of seats to herself. What caught my attention was her telephone conversation....

It was apparent to me that she was on the line with her love one aka the hubby. In her very unique Mandarin accent which was very un-Malaysian, she spoke of her desire to leave. She accused "THEM" of making her take that action and told him to take good care of her kids. She said that the other woman was a slut who slept with men but yet her hubby was always taking her side. My private investigator trait told me that he tried to convince her to call others to verify on his infidelity. She laughed off his comment and replied that she was not stupid as all those people were his friends and would take his side.

The lady said that if he was standing in front of her right now, she would stab him to death. Such was her anguish and hatred! She proceeded to tell him that she was not bothered with his "couple of hundred thousand bucks". At that point of time, I almost jumped out of my seat!!! I wanted to tell her "Hey Lady,suck him dry of his money and see whether the slut will remain with him". The phone call ended after she mentioned that she will publish it in the paper the next day.

At first, I thought that she was contemplating suicide but another incoming call from her friend proved my speculation was wrong. He he...ya ya, so kpc. Actually, she was only seeking for a divorce. From her conversation, I got the impression that she was a high profile corporate lady who recently flew into Amsterdam to handle a business deal. So, it is no wonder she could easily say "To Hell with your money" to her other half. She must be earning just as much if not more.

At the same time, I feel for her as behind that strong facade, lies a person who has a troubled marriage. From the outset, she appears like an aggresive corporate lady who flew first class and nobody could have guessed her pain had I not heard her conversations. It just goes to prove the old age proverb "Do not judge a book by its cover".....This was an eye opening kpc incident on my part...but seriously though, I can only wish her all ther best in my heart.
